We currently have three fixed shelves in our walk in pantry. Just looking at it the other day, there's tons of wasted space, although it's a small room. So I found an idea and an online planner. Here's the idea picture that kind of started it all:

Here's kind of what we want the back wall to look like, and all shelves are adjustable:

and the left wall has a tall opening for the broom, dustmop, vacuum, etc. , with adjustable shelves above the baskets.

And the wall behind the door just has adjustable shelves:

And they would gladly send it to me as designed for only $2k. Where can I find drawers/baskets/shelving like this and save a ton of money? I know I'll have to cut down some pre-drilled melamine, but that's NBD. Any ideas?

Home Depot or Lowes. They have the closet/panty organizer stuff that is all modular like that. If your pantry ever looks like the first picture you have and Monica have mastered training your kids.

Thanks, Brittan! HD doesn't have squat other than the wire shelving, which isn't what Monica wants. I'll check Lowe's website.

 at the 'mastered training your kids' comment!

Ever check out Kraftmaid? They have a nice swing out setup for small spaces--I think HD still carries the line.

That is sweet!

I call the challenge for anyone on mud to post pics of the condition of the current pantry.

I agree with climber, any build requires a full time, highly paid, maintenance supervisor.

Having built many custom closets over the years, I have some input.

Most of the online closet organizers are geared towards closets and the relatively light loads they present. They usually hang from the back wall on a metal rail. Although they may claim a weight rating that makes this method seem adequate, for heavier food stuff, I would want the uprights to extend all the way to the floor for unquestionable support. The long term longevity of the system will depend on this. The uprights would simply be notched for the baseboard. Many suppliers can furnish either the hanging version or the full length (to the floor) version.

We converted our small downstairs coat closet into a "pantry" with Elfa components from The Container Store. It's pretty similar to the closet maid stuff at home depot, but a little nicer finish (and more expensive). It's hard to tell from your design sketches, but make sure you consider clearance and interference between the back and side wall installations. I don't have any pics of my finished product, but here are my design sketches
