I also wonder if it would add the kind of support a plate of high grade aluminum would...whats the lid made from?

I had to wait quite a while and then I never installed it. Check out www.wagongear.com and all the info is detailed there. Kevin is very talented and makes some great products.

Sorry you never got the chance to install it David, it was a pleasure working with you.

Just so you guys know, full "factory" support comes with the lid.
David has the cam latch option on there, which is a great latch, but I'm doing an update on them, details here.
So if the new owner runs into any trouble, just let me know.
