As some of you know, Robert and I (and Macey) participated in last year's inaugural Lemonade Day event. Lemonade Day is a non-profit organization that teaches children (K-12) the ropes of entrepreneurship through having a lemonade stand. Each child receives a backpack (free) that contains planning materials, lemonade recipes, and business planning tips. On Sunday May 1st every child will have a lemonade stand located somewhere in the San Antonio area.

This is a national organization that reaches out to all cultures of social and economic status. Last year the CEO of my company brought Lemonade Day to the San Antonio area. You may remember last May 2nd there were over 3,500 lemonade stands around the city.

Since the CEO of my company is the chairperson for the San Antonio initiative, my company is very involved with volunteering time to promote this event. Over the next few weeks there are many events in San Antonio in which we will be promoting this initiative and handing out backpacks.

The purpose of this post is to get our club involved with the opportunity to do something for our community. Saturday April 16th is the King William Fair and the Lemonade Booth will need volunteers to man it. If you can spare even just a a couple of hours that would be great! There are other opportunities available this weekend and next. I'll post up the schedule tomorrow.

Thoughts?

I might be able to help depending on work.

Sounds fun. What times on Saturday?

Wait...does this involve attending a Fiesta event?!?

I have a training commitment that day so I don't think I can make it but I really like the cause. It sounds like a great program for kids.

Enjoy and don't squirt any lemons in the little ones eyes.

@ Kelly - If you're going to EVER visit any fiesta event, King William Fair is the one to go to. It's a big family oriented event so you won't have to worry about people throwing up on you.

I wish I could help but I'll be out of town that weekend. This is a great way to reach out to the community and educate kids.

Hah, thats funny but true, KW event is safe but is downtown. It is a bit overloaded with homo's tho

Volunteer time slots are 9:30-1:30 and 1:30 to 6:00, however I think a couple hours will be good. I'm good with 10:30 - 12:30. Carpooling is definitely recommended. We can drive.

Suggestions???
