howdy,
finished the soa before i went up north for x-mas gone for 1 month, come back throw some shims on to correct the problem(rear axle tilted up), pop the hood before i take her for a spin notice i have no brake fluid ( leaking wheel cylinder and master clyinder), fix that stuff for now. take her out for a spin to see if i fixed the vibration. the 6 degree shims helped but the vibration isnt totally gone at low rpms i can feel it pretty good but at speed i cant. the drive shaft looks pretty level, maybe tilted up a tiny tiny bit.. do you think thats still the problem or....
i drove it around for a lil bit with the bad vibration maybe like 6 miles. do you think i could have f-up my u joint in that short of distance... ill post a pic of my drive shaft tomorrow.
thanks

Chock the wheels so it will not roll, leave the trans in neutral, and grab hold of the rear shaft with both hands and try to move it up and down at the diff end, the t-case end, and in the slip/stub area. Any play in any of these areas could be making your noise...

Good luck!

-Steve

Oh, and while you are under there, hit those grease zerks with some good Moly grease!

thanks poser,
i will try it tomorrow when i get up... there is slop in the drive shaft when i had my rear wheel off i could roatate it like an half inch or inch then the drive shaft would move. so i think the slop in the is in the axle but ill check the side to side slop tomorrrow...
thanks agian for the help agian,
good nite

That slop you are talking about was probably in the diff, and not in the shaft...

Make sure you didn't get drive shafts out of phase!
