Pretty yes, - but you would have to hand your man-badge back in if you felt the need to fit one.

How can you own a 1997 40th anniv. edition and believe that the 60th anniv. emblem is legit? It would serve no purpose until at least 2017!

The 40th Anniversary trucks were to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Toyota importing Land Cruisers into the United States.

The 60th Anniversary badge, only available in the Japanese domestic (and other foreign) market(s), is to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the production of the Land Cruiser.

As for one's man-card, it can never be surrendered for buying anything that is OEM Toyota Land Cruiser equipment...and, I would think, 200 Series owners would be all about the bling!

Ah. I see. That old chestnut. :bang:

I was only pulling your leg Garth and have no problem with your OEM fetish. It could be worse - I mean thank God you're not another one of those silent suffering prats with 200 envy and who suffer from the delusion that their own rig came off the assembly line in used condition.

'Matter of fact I think you've talked me into it. Maybe I'll put one up on my Christmas tree at home. That would be nice don't ya reckon?. ;)

Just arrived in the middle east for a short business trip. I saw probably five 200s sporting that 60th anniversary badge in the short drive from the airport to the hotel.

The real question is: how can I get my hands on one of those OEM-looking swing-away spare tire carriers for the back? I saw those on a few 200s in Oz as well. They look like they would bolt right on to just about any 200 series above and below the tail lamp. The only noticeable difference I saw was a different tailgate to move the license plate over.

No idea on the 200s, but 80 Series owners found out that the overseas spec trucks had additional bracing for the OEM carriers that US spec trucks lacked.

If you just want a spare tire on the back it's much easier to buy the arb with the spare tire option.

If you want the OEM look you will need to cut the OEM body and fab a bracket above taillight. Cut the OEM body below the taillight (don't cut to deep there is a set of nuts behind the skin you will need to mount the tire carrier.

You will need to purchase the lower section of the tailgate as this has the locking part needed to keep the carrier from flying open.

You can cut the rear bumper.

Not another option I do with mine - take a shock that is used on the top part of the tail gate and mount it on the carrier to help it open when you pull the handle

Next install a small switch that is tapped into the external handle. Run a cable (like the hood release) from the handle on the carrier to inside the cabin. This will allow you to unlock the carrier and it swing out of the way and then open the tail gate from inside.

I do this in our armored cars for safety reasons.
