I can't find any mention of the fuel system at all in my FSM - is there another volume I need to buy?

Anyway, I'm installed the MAF long range fuel tank in my '84 FJ60 and I'm trying to figure out the vapor cannister connection. There are 6 connections in the passenger side rear fender well that run up into the cavity holding the vapor cannister - can anyone ID these for me?

This is a vortec conversion so I'm dropping a fuel pump in the tank.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a schematic of the Vapor Separator on page 3-7 of the Toyota emissions control repair manual. I also has the charcoal cannister as well.

Thanks for that information.

Here's the next question. If you are tyring to do a emmissions LEGAL vortec conversion in California do you use the vapor cannister from the Vortec or the FJ60 - my guess is the Vortec.

If that's true, does anyone know where I could find a generic description of how to hook it up? I have the FSM for the Vortec, but it's pretty specific to the Chevy installation.

I would just use the cruiser canister unless the stock location is in the way of something for the vortec. It has nothing really to do with the engine.

I did not know Vortecs came with canisters.....
What year is your engine?

Im doing the same swap and also in CA.
I've been suggested to keep the toyota vap canister....
I would check with the Reff... if in doubt.
I'll probably end up using the Toyo Canister and see if it passes when the ispection comes around....

good luck...

Yes, the Vortec has a cannister - all modern cars and trucks have cannisters. On the Suburban I got my engine and tranny from, it was mounted near the gas tank. '

The question I have is: If you use the LC's cannister, how do you operate the valves - using the LC's controls. The Vortec's computer has the ability to operate the valves for it's cannister. Will that work the LC's.

So many questions, so few brain cells.

OK, I ordered the Emissions manual from Toyota, but it will be a week getting here. So, can anyone give some advice on the best way to hook up the tank vent? The supply and return are pretty obvious, but there are couple of tubes coming from the vapor cannister compartment - should I hook one of those up to one one of the threaded fittings they welded into the top edge of the tank - there's one in each corner.
