Are GWNF and Devils Ditch open in the winter for wheelin? I was thinking about making a trip out soon, possibly today as a quick day trip. Any other good places near richmond?

Shoe Creek and Big Levels are near by. Definitely not as technical as Devils Ditch, but still fun.

Shoe Creek is near Crabtree Falls and I think Big Levels is near Sherando Lake. There is a trail that runs from Coal Rd near Sherando up to the top of the BR Parkway. I think this is what people are referring to when they talk about the Big Levels Trail but I have heard it called different things. Can anyone verify this?
Anyway, I think I have some electronic maps that I can attach to this thread tomorrow. If not, I will write up more detailed directions.

Ok thanks a lot man.
We're headed out to some new land somewhere near Charlottesville this weekend, if you wanna tag onto us. I do know that it is 1.5 hours from Richmond, we're leaving at 7:30 am and returning at the end of the day. That is the extent of my knowledge, but I can find out more if you want.

Kris I would love to go this weekend but unfortunately I have a fire dept. class I have to take on saturday all day. But I was hoping to go the weekend after that maybe if anyone was interested. Also JC I will make sure to shoot you that email sometime. Thanks again.
