Just got my first UOA from Blackstone Labs. I pushed the oil change interval out to 8,800 miles for the first analysis to set a baseline. It's a good result, although I'll probably change this oil at about 6000 miles and do another UOA to check the iron levels.
The oil is Mobil 1 5W/30
Aluminum 4
Chromium 0
Iron 16
Copper 2
Lead 4
Tin 0
Molybdenum 52
Nickel 0
Manganese 0
Silver 0
Titanium 0
Potassium 2
Boron 88
Silicon 13
Sodium 4
Calcium 2343
Magnesium 13
Phosphorus 558
Zinc 627
Barium 0
SUS Viscosity at 210 deg. F 62.5
Flashpoint deg. F 380
Fuel % <0.5
Antifreeze % 0.0
Water % 0.0
Insolubles % 0.5
TBN 3.0
Miles on oil: 8800
Time on oil: 8 months
Milage at sample: 68,000
Filter: Toyota
Oil added: 0 quarts
Blackstone's Comments:
Iron is a metal that tends to track with miles of use. You've run this oil almost 9000 miles, and we think that's probably why iron reads high. The other metals read around average levels so we see nothing in this used engine oil sample that would point to any kind of problem. This oil type is working well for your engine so we suggest staying with it. We found no gas, moisture or signs of any coolant in the oil. The TBN was 3.0, so the oil had active additive left in it. Check back to monitor.
Is anybody else runing extended oil change intervals in their 100 series? If you've got an analysis, post it so i can see how other engines are tracking.
