C.L. quot;Butchquot; Otter reached a tentative deal Wednesday that would end the current road-funding impasse and allow legislators to adjourn the 2009 session this week./ppAnd the agreement doesn't include a gas tax increase./ppOtter and House Republican leaders have been at odds for weeks over how to raise money to pay for road maintenance, with the governor insisting on $75 million but the House only offering about $24 million./ppOn Wednesday, they decided to meet in the middle./ppHere are the details:/ppEliminating the state's ethanol exemption would raise $16.4 million./ppRaising certain Division of Motor Vehicle fees would generate $13.1 million, although only about $6 million would be used for road maintenance./ppShifting $21 million in Idaho State Police and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation funds back to the Idaho Transportation Department for road maintenance.
