We're putting together a special 4 day safari wheeling expedition through the Nicoya Peninsula, Northwestern Costa Rica.

This expedition is for MUD members only, Nicoya's best trails have been selected. Stops in the way include:

-The Barra Honda Caverns, one of the deepest caves in the world, great rapelling.

-multi-level waterfalls (gotta wash off the mud somehow!).

- if anyone wants to surf theres that too!

-river crossings, winching, mountain trails, cruising on sandy virgin beaches.

-small, high-quality hotels along the way.

-great food.

-partying at night to meet with the locals and try out the national beverages  .

-etc.

This trip is scheduled for late Feb. 2007.

its gonna be a good one, we only have 10 rigs, so reserve with time.

You drive your own BJ40 or FJ40. I'll go along with you folks, as well as one of our naturalist Cruiserhead guides and 2 field mechanics. All LCs are intercomunicated with CB radios, for guiding purposes as well as heckleing and making fun of whoever gets stuck!:grinpimp:

Let me know!

Hi Fabrice,
I guess that's 2007, right?
any guesses about pricing?

How's the dengue situation in february? Last time I was down there I ended up in the Puntarenas dengue unit for a week. got it the first time in south east asia, and the second time in costa rica, and it was pretty bad then...

Dengue is NOT fun, and you got it twice! Ouch!

Spent some time in S.E. asia as well, Thailand, Malaysia. I'm born in Singapore and have great affection for those lands.

My girlfriend got dengue last month, i was nursing her, it really sucked, i heard that the second time around its much worse.

Anyway, dengue season is over, mid december winds start picking up, and rain stops in the begining of december. This year had one of the worst Dengue epidemics in a long time.

By January there is no more Aedes Aegipti (the species of mosquito that carries dengue). Feb is no problem.

I'm sending you a PM with more pricing info.

Costa Rica

Hi Fabrice

Nice chatting with you on the phone. Be sure and reserve 3 spots for our group. We will be arriving on Feb. 18 for 8 days. Thanks Bill

Send me info as well. We get to San Jose Feb 14 but still have not firmed up accom yet. Will be spending Feb 15 and 16 south of San Jose on the Pacific side.

Kevin

Hope to have you aboard as well Kevin. I'll PM you to suggest some hotels in San Jose, should be no problem to find something.

Its really better to spend as little time as possible in the "city", unfortunately its the only place in Costa Rica that's not stunningly beautiful (far from it!).

Here's the prices,

its a 4 day 3 night expedition, and the prices are as follows.

To have a Cruiser for 2 people, the cost is $2000 USD.

For a full rig, sitting up to 4 people, the cost is of $3000 USD.

Remember this trip is for MUD members only, we got 10 rigs, but might buy a couple more by then. We're thinking of starting on the 19th.
