I picked up an 03 LX on Friday and found a strange wire and circuit board tucked in the corner of the dash on the passenger side. It has 12V going to it when the truck is running. Anyone have any insight into what this might be?

There are two pairs of wireless headphones and a remote control in the center console. The truck has the DVD player installed in the rear of the vehicle and it looks like whoever installed it did quite a hack job. Not sure if it is a transceiver for the headphones or remote.

It "kind of" looks like an infrared receiver?

This was from a google search - While not the same, it's clearly pretty similar. It's an IR remote receiver from a TV.

Any chance it's the IR remote receiver for the RSE?

I thought I recognized the chip on the module (silver and black thing with three legs on the right in the last photo). Bluetooth is RF so I'd bet it's for the remote. The little black ball has to "see" the IR (light) signal from the remote

I am starting to think it's for the rear seat entertainment. But it is installed so poorly I hate to believe it came from the dealer like that. Is this the manual for the OEM DVD player?

That's not an OEM unit. But I think it is a safe bet to assume that your PCB is the "remote sensor" shown in that parts drawing, with the plastic case taken off of it.

I went down the rabbit hole removing the aftermarket wiring today. I had to remove almost every trim panel on the passenger side of the vehicle and the head unit. The one bundle of wires I have left is going into the roof-mounted DVD player.

Are the ribbon cables OEM? I assume these were there in the first place for a dome light. I do not want to tear off the headliner and chase these wires down if they should be there.

Bump. Anyone familiar with the ribbon cable in the headliner?

I have ribbon cable going into a white two pin connector to the dome light above the 3rd row seats on my 06 LX.

Unsure if that is the case for the 2nd row dome light as well.
Also unsure how much the harness has changed in three years.

Thanks. That makes me feel much better. I did not want to chase down the ribbon cable to rip it out.
