Unknown Toyota guy

I stopped at Dillon's yesterday to fill up the 80 and this guy pulls in on the other side of the same pump. I thought cool, it's not often you see a '85 mini truck anymore. The guy (Bruce) gets out and as we're filling up we start talking about his mini-truck, built 80, 40 and trips to CO and UT each year. I was surprised because he didn't know about any clubs in the area. I gave him my card and he said to stop by his place sometime to BS about Toyota's. What's funny is he's only a couple miles away from my place in NW Wichita (29th & 124th I think). You never know where you might meet another Toyota owner.

If its the same Bruce I know, that is probablly true that he doesnt know any clubs around here but he does know of several Yota guys around here that wheel.

May not be the same guy, just sounds odd cause He has met me, Mike, Greg and another guy.............I forget his name.

Let's see if we can get the Toyota folks in the Wichita area together before the TAC meeting in January. Maybe have a meet 'n greet, discuss the club and TLCA.

The only other 80's owner I know in that area are Bruce Leach and Marty Liera. Bruce has had an 80 for several years, and I ran into Marty at CM in 05 and he'd upgraded to an 80 from a Forerunner (IIRC). Both have been members of TAC, but only for one year.

Lotta luck. We've had a few toy owners attend our Wichita 4x4 Club meetings. Only one ever joined, for 1 year.... His mini truck was broke....

Are you the guy running around in the flareless green 80 I see on 21st around Tyler or Maize Road?

I have a Gray 80 CE with Japanese type license plate on the front, but every time I see you, I am in my work vehicle. I have met Bruce also, I live by 13th and 119th west.

You know there are a total 5 fixed up 80s I have seen running around Wichita, 4 on the West side and one out east.

That's me. I'm up by 37th & Tyler.

Did we cross paths over the weekend? I saw a gray 80 at Maize and 21st, Sunday I think and we both waved. I was surprised because I had given up waving to LC owners around here, they look at you funny. Especially the 100 owners, like an 80 is somehow beneath them.

I'll look you up when I get back to town next week maybe meet up at Starbucks or ??.

Whenever I get Mike and myself motivated I'm planning on signing up with TAC. At that point I was going to make some business cards that can be given out to various Toyota's around town with the hopes of getting together locally like Mike mentioned. We'll see.

Yep, Henry screwed up. I consider it 5 minutes of fame rather than the original 30 days. I wasn't too upset but Mark W. was miffed that Henry messed up. The description is for my rig and the pic is Jon Held's 80 at GSMTR. It's funny though, Jon was in my pic spotting me.

I believe Mark was going to see about having my pic in next years calendar but by then it'll be different. I told him to hold off and have his camera ready for CMCC '07 and I'll have it ready for VooDoo or Wompum.

At any rate here is the pic that didn't make it. I apologize for the size, I didn't edit it after Mark emailed it to me.
