Does anybody have any ideas about how to remove the black underseal that is applied to some vehicles for corrosion protection? Mine's coming adrift and i see this as a way of causing corrosion if moisture gets between it and the vehicle's body. It's on my old Mercedes 500SEC, not the Landcruiser, but I hope this doesn't deter any readers from responding...

If you're talking about that thick black tar on the drivetrain and adjacent underbody areas, its applied by Toyota I am not sure I would remove it. On the trucks I have owned, it has never shown signs of allowing moisture to penetrate it. But with about 100 of those 12"x12" terry cloth towels, some cardboard to catch the mess, and about 15 cans of Gunk engine cleaner and you can rub it off one section at a time. I removed some of it to make it cleaner to work underneath but we have no rust issues here in Texas.

If you're talking about dealer or aftermarket undercoating elsewhere....good luck, its tough to remove but does need to come off.
