For those of you with trailers or just in general......

My infamous Boy Scout Troop utility trailer has a wood floor on the inside and that same chipboard/plywood is exposed on the underside of the trailer. Since I'm off work.....and have time on my hands next week (and hopefully not much beyond that) I figured I'd seal the underside with something to protect it from the exterior elements to get it to last longer. Yeah, yeah, I know we really don't have 'elements' to deal with much in SoCal. :flipoff2:

Any suggested products without getting to expensive or elaborate? I know I'll need to clean and/or lightly sand the underside to clean it up before applying anything. Remember - this is wood.

One thought I have is a good quality marine varnish. Good on wood and repels water well. Just a good exterior paint after a coat of primer?

Thoughts or suggestions?

You could use that truck bed spray on stuff. Or any kind of undercoating, that stuff is pretty reasonable and would be relatively quick and inexpensive to do.

Since your only talking about wood here and not some rare rust free 45, I would go with a couple good coats of primer and some outdoor paint since it's wood. That will help get you a couple more years out of it. But, it's still wood, no matter what you do it's eventually going to split and rot.
