The stupid part is that the guy immediately smelled it upon entering the FJ, knew what it was and STILL started the car. It didn't blow up then. When he hit the "down" button on his windows to "air it out" is when it blew up. He's one lucky sumbitch to only have a blown eardrum.

You gotta be pretty stupid if you believe that story. The pressure alone to cause that kind of destruction would cause internal organ damage and bleeding. No one would make it out of that.
