Jay,

Done both on a 62, with a little help from my friends. ARB no problem. Suspension? The only hard part is cutting off the old bushings and not running out of PBR.

Gimp,

The good news is I think you found the rest of the CSS Hunley.

Chuck,

I have been working too much at work in the last year, will try and get my priorities straight again.

Marshall,
I remember putting that locker in Jp's old 60. I tried to buy Todds 33s, but he had already sold them.

See I am trolling for a place to do such things. Living at Christ School has its perks but one of them is not a proper garage in which to work on automobiles. I would have to go all clempson mafia style and do it in my gravel driveway, and we know I just have too much self respect for that...

Finally made it back in the gym after a 1 year vacation. Ran and did chest this morning. Can barely move my arm to scratch my head. Trying to get back to the glory days of a 465 lbs bench and 525 lbs squat. This first month is going to suck.

found a nice solution to my overdrive issue with a diesel swap on the 40

ford makes an overdrive 4 speed. It's a T&C top loader transmission. 10.25" alum housing makes it light weight and compact. The wheel base will not need to be modified i any way and the transmissions are a dime a dozen.

1st gear similar to the h42, fully syncro except reverse.

smooth shifting tranny

adapts to the solid 3 speed case and keeps your pto gear.

you can adapt the front of the T&C tranny to fit any SBC so this is a good tranny for diesel swaps since most diesels fit chevy transmssions long before any other tranny.

so now comes the hard part...finding the cheapest possible diesel engine!!!

i've got a 40 until the right scout II, early bronco or diesel series/non NAS defender comes along!

nice but i'm looking for trades

i don't like dealing with the hassle of selling/buying

That's assuming you've got something of value to offer. . . is the Dent trade-worthy?:hhmm:

I don't own the dent but all 60's are the s***

I need to start working out again, I just walked about 3 miles in Manhattan just because I felt myself molding into the chair too much.

man listen!! With the patina i have going on with the dent it should easily fetch 10k:flipoff2:... Besides i am working on fixing some body panels anyway. Got to slaughter this transfer case rebuild 1st though:bang::bang::bang:

I have a serious spray paint issue.

possible donor: Diesel Ford Ranger

Yeah. So far I've been lucky and everyone was good. Cleared all the nozzles and threw out the old while cleaning everything up. I have probably over 100 cans in there.

hmmm...that perkins looks nice!!!

i'm still leaning toward the MB diesel

but first i've gotta source my T&C tranny

plan is to get my grandpas old truck over to the house and part out the SM465 and pto. PTO should be worth way more than the tranny.

May even be able to barter the 465 for a 1981-1986 ford f150 4 speed manual tranny on craigslist.

I prefer 86 since it's a top shift where the 81-85 have the shifter linkage on the side.

I'll run the 305 or install the 350 from my grandpas truck in the 40 with the overdrive tranny until i can either sell off one of the small block chevys or find the spare cash for the diesel swap.

I'm working on doing this swap for less than 2K.

The cheaper the better!!!

If i can get easily source/install diesel swaps for 2-3K i think i might be able to find a market to eventually start doing diesel swaps out of my shop.

I'd rather play with engine swaps than lawn equipment any day of the week.

You sayin' you aren't prepared? Guess you are just a sheep like the rest of us then.:)

Jeremy

Yup. Story goes I bought all my emergency (aka: TEOTWAWKI gear) from Jay a few years ago and last week John Lee made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I made nice bank on the sale but now Jay is being a little pissy bitch and raising hell because he feels I was a dick to sell it for so much after I talked him down. That's capitalism for ya - a willing buyer and a willing seller. Oh well...
