I could get you in on family day. Tour of press shop and assembly but don't really get to see alot actually running.

Photogrammetry device as an end effector on a articulating arm? So working with robotics AND 3D metrology? I freaking love this, Gabe! Ive seen automation projects and assembly lines that use this configuration in the automotive industry. What are y'all planning to do with it?

Check assembled door and liftgates with it for now. Have three in the plant. A door that takes 45 minutes in the Cmm lab takes 7 minutes on the blue lite.

Are those "dots" spot welds or markers for the scanner?
Markers for the scanner. That is a master panel to create an alignment for the program. Once done we just stick a door in there and go basically.

I expect to have to learn to program later down the line. The machine can take 300 customer set measurement in one shot.

Really kinda scary if you think about it. Every time we bring in new lines and automation they run faster and take less and less people to run. When I first started working here 10 years ago it took 4 people and a forklift driver to build a door. The new lines take two people and a forklift driver.

Some friends of mine are playing at Newberry Opera House 1/28/17. Ride The Lightning - The Ultimate Metallica Tribute. Sarah and I are gonna go see them. Anybody interested in going? @tabraha ? I'm mostly wanting to see a metal band play an 1881 concert hall!

That would indeed be awesome. I'd be down if we didn't already have plans. Any other dates near CLT?

Given they are named after one of the best albums of all time, I'd bet they're great.

I'm just excited the Maiden NA tour was announced this week and CLT (June 9) tickets go on sale next Friday.

@cruiser4life They're at Amos' in CLT tonight. Early show. 830pm. Probably the last time at Amos', since it's closing soon. Hadn't planned on going, but PM me if you need a copilot. Might have a DD if Sarah will go. Pretty sure we live within a few miles of each other.

Oh yeah if the schedule allows I'm in. I'm actually printing most of the Opera House upcoming playbills that go outside/inside the opera house at the moment!

Driving the kids to school this morning, I suddenly start to hear a sound like air bubbles passing through the heater core from inside the dash. I had recently changed several hoses (PHH, TB, radiator) and often doubt my work, and still have the intact rear heater, so feared that something let go. I don't see any fluid on the road behind me but have a Dodge Durango tailgating me to prevent a better look. Temp gauge is good but I know there it is a dummy readout until too late. I find a parking lot and pop the hood but everything seems okay. No coolant and only the typical oil residue from the valve cover. The kids won't shut up at this point to let me get a good listen for location, but I deem it safe enough to keep driving.

Back on the road I still hear it and am convinced it is the heater core. Then reach for my coffee and the sound stops. Put the coffee back in the cup holder and it starts again. Turns out my post-coffee yeti of water was being tilted forward by the coffee and rubbing just right on the radio face to cause the sound. Moral of the story, Toyota engineers didn't put cup holders in here for a reason.

I assume that's a G01 door? Pretty cool to see that in action. It's wild how the completed body in whites are measured. The tolerances are quite incredible for the amount of parts that go into it.
Easy now don't get me in trouble.

Did a short run into horsepasture with my best friend yesterday. Had a great time. Started snowing on our way out. Then hit Sierra Nevada before going home.
