That is beautiful. I get tired of having to fix my pancakes, lather them in syrup and then dip my bacon in. Just grab and go, kind of like a McGriddle minus the egg and cheese.

i love the mcgriddle

i feel so dirty eating a mcgriddle...maybe its because i always eat 2 or 3 at a time

I don't even feel deserving of a napkin when eating that many mcgriddles at once, i just wipe my hands/mouth off with the bag.

I think everything will be ok it just is not the timing we were expecting thats all.

So traffic court was a waste of time, not that I'm giving up, but they certainly do everything in their power to process you like cattle.

First they tell everybody before they even enter the courtroom that if they want a reduced sentence, they should fill out this waiver for PreTrial Intervention Program for Traffic Offenses. It's a shortcut to giving up due process and by "participating" you pay no fine and charges are "dismissed". The whole thing sounded hinky to me and I had my tablet with me so I looked it up. Turns out that participation includes a fee (although less than your fine) and you could also wind up doing community service (I assume, if unable to pay the fee).

So they send all these sheep to another courtroom and I was too (mind you they never asked me whether I was pleading innocent, guilty or nolo AND we were instructed not to argue with any statement the Case Manager gave us). So after getting the initial schpiel on the PTI program, I asked what if I want to plead "not guilty"? Oh, then you need to go back up stairs. So I got back to the 6th floor and go back to the judge's case manager and give her my name and she looks at her computer and says, oh do you want to plead Not Guilty. I confirm, sign the NG waiver and take my seat.

The judge then states that they will process all "plea cases" first then the others and that no cases will go to trial in her court today. Now I know that means, all "guilty plea cases" because I had to wait until she first read all the names (for the record) of the no-shows (about 10 minutes worth), then she handled all the jailed defendants via live video feed from the jail house down the block (another 30-40 minutes because the video feed kept crashing).

After this the prosecutor gets up to make his announcements and again reiterates the BS about the PTI program. He also says if you just tell him a guilty plea, he can recommend a lower fine or dismiss the case, but only if. He and the judge kept warning that if you go to trial you could pay as much as $1000 in fines or 6 months in jail (all scare tactics). I know for fact that running a stop sign has a maximum fine of $132 and $194 with court fees (they call them surcharges now, just like the banks). The only way I would ever serve jail time is if I could not pay.

Then all the lovely citizens of Atlanta who wanted to go ahead and plead guilty got to stand in line at the prosecutors desk, give him their guilty/nolo waiver, wait for the judge to read aloud the fine, only to be told to just go downstairs and pay at the window. Oh, one other part...about half that stood up for judgement could not pay "today" and were asked to sit in another set of benches to await for processing by a probation officer. They got shuffled away a few at a time during all of this by the bailiff. The ones that could pay today were warned that if they left the building without paying, a bench warrant would be issued. Incidentally, many who stood up today were back because they had skipped out on payment the first time. Wow.

So by now I've been there almost two hours twiddling my thumbs because I can't even look at or touch my phone or tablet in the courtroom. It's just me and one other guy left and the judge finally says if you are pleading not guilty, then I'm "bounding your case over to State Court, because I have to power to issue a court order which states that I will not hear your case in my courtroom" ...or something uppity like that.

I certainly did not expect to get a bench trial or a jury trial today because I knew that the citing officer was not required to be there for "first appearances". However, she could have easily told me and the other guy as soon as we told the case manager our NG plea (roughly 8:30am) - that we could be dismissed and that our case would not be heard today and we would receive another summons for the actual trial. It was a total "hey I've got the power" attitude from her.

Yay for expedient justice.:bang:

But I will continue on this path and keep y'all posted.
