Looking for decent wobble/u-joint type socket set that won't break the bank. After trying to futz with one damn headbolt for a good 30 minutes yesterday to get retorqued properly (initially installed with buddies nice Snap-on kit from when he was a mechanic) I realized the benefit of having that vs. trying different wobble heads/u-joint combinations.

I was able to get it torqued down but in the processes snapped the end of one of the wobble extensions I had.

I have the 1/4 drive gear wrench metric and standards and I've been pretty damn happy. I use them every day with my 1/4 drive cordless impact and ratchet. I've seen their bigger wobblies blow up but Gear Wrench dealers aren't too hard to find for warranty. If you can find the local Mac truck they carry Expert wobblies in 3/8 and those have done me solid for a few years now of heavy use almost daily. The Grey Pneumatic ones are a decent bet too... Stronger than the gear wrench ones. Those are all pretty reasonably priced ones. I like the Experts over the GPs and Gear Wrenches but they're hard to find anywhere but the tool truck and a little pricier.

Impact wobblies are definitely some of my most used tools.

If you by chance end up wanting to splurge, the pinless wobblies from whatever tool truck brand are sweet, usually flex more and are narrower so you can get into places easier. They're generally a lot stronger as well. Just be prepared to spend a small fortune.

Yeah highly doubt I will splurge on these. Found that HF has a set on sale right now they are calling an impact set for $29. So will grab those and if they last a couple of usages then they will have earned their keep.

HF does, theyre okay. I have a set of 3/8 in the cruiser. For the cruiser I use 1/4 drive more than anything. Not sure the HFs come in 1/4.

I'm a big fan of the GP impact sockets - have their master sae/metric set in 3/8 drive and use the snot out of it . I've tested their sockets against my Matco 650ft/lb 1/2" gun and done nothing but break Matco's adapter several times...lol . Still using a very old set of my Dad's Mac wobble sockets and they are still holding up fine , about 35yrs old now .
