I need to get my M101 legal in TX. Do I need to register it as a homebuilt trailer and just give them the weight/payload? Is there any other documentation that I need? I am asking you guys so that I don't have to deal with the DMV morons any more than I have to, and I know several of you have done this before.

Thanks,

Carson

I don't believe you have to title it. Registration $ amount used to be based on payload. The more you tell them it will haul, the more registration will be. A lot of laws changed Oct 1. so it might be worth a phone call before you attempt to register it.

This is the title info. I didn't see any info on registration.

The way I am reading that form that Chad linked is that the trailer has to be "in excess of 4.000 lbs" to be subject to a Texas Title.

Am I missing something or does that make these little trailer exempt?

Exempt for a title. Not registration and license plates. When you sell it, a bill of sale is all you need.

Carson and Nolen, PM me with the serial number off your trailers, name you want on the bill and Koffer will send us a bill of sale for each trailer.
