Just finished watching Two Roads To Baja on the Speed channel. Our very own Simon (95eighty) is in it and it features the journey of two teams racing in last years Baja 1000. One professional team Rod Millens and a rookie team, Team Necessary. Very cool for those into racing or not. Unfortunately I watched a recorded version so it is already passed. I checked and it is not scheduled to show again in the next week or so. Anyway, congrats Simon, well done.

Thread Hijack - only because Mo brought up Mexico.

For those of you that may not already know, you must have a passport to fly anywhere into Mexico now and will be required to have one to drive accross the boarder come January, 2008. I know lots of us here take quick trips down there, so be forewarned. It's currently taking 6-8 weeks to get a passport, so don't delay. I figure come October, November that there's going to be a huge rush of applications here in SoCal for weekenders that travel to TJ and beyond so don't procrastinate!

Now we return you to your regularly scheduled Speed channel post.

You sure are good at being prepared, what are you some sort of Boyscout?:flipoff2:

I thought it was this month it started Brent?

I thought it was starting Jan 07 for both. That is what they said at the drivers meeting before the 1000.

Directly from the Department of State website:

The proposed implementation timeline has two phases:

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.
The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the United States and do not need to present a passport. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

I stand corrected. :o

I stand corrected. :o

Better safe than sorry - carry one anyway, especially the deeper you get into Mexico. Border towns aren't an issue.

I saw that show.
Kicked ass! they had the best overhead shots from the heli.

I hope somebody youtube's it.

Thanks:beer: Glad you enjoyed it.

I also saw the show. Besides Simon, George (OrangeFJ40) was there too. George was part of team Millens.

Very cool.
