I just bought my wife a 2003 Sequoia SR5 4x4 with about 60K miles on it. I'm pretty pleased with it overall, however - there are two pretty annoying things that I wanted to ask if any other Sequoia owners had experienced:

1) Hard brakes - not just hard, but like WOW you gotta smash that bad boy to get it to brake. We also have a 2004 F-150 4x4 and a 2000 LC and I've not felt brakes like this since back before my pre-boosted days.

2) Sunroof rattle - sounds like we have a pack of mice up in there. Can't really tell where it is coming from at this point, I guess I'm hoping that this is a known problem and someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the advice (if you provide any)!

I would call a Toyota dealership and make sure your vehicle did not miss a TSB for the brake sysy and if it did not i would look at upgrading the complete system. Probably affordable if done correctly regarding how important this system is in everyday driving! I hate ABS Brakes to start with but from what i have read on earlier models was that they needed upgrading due to design SNAFU's but who knows ya might just need pads and rear shoes? defenitly take to a repair facility, brakes are HUGE!! everything will need looking at eventually!!:)

I know this is an old thread, but i just bought one, 05 also. It takes extreme effort to brake this monster.

My brother has a 2002 Limited Sequioa, I had it for a week about two months back. The brakes are ridiculous, they make the truck very difficult to feel safe driving in. I asked him about the problem, as he owns two large toyota dealerships and a huge mechanic shop, he said they are all like that. It really made me nervous thats for sure.

There is a TSB that replaces the calipers for larger ones in the front. I believe it came out in 03. The 04 I drove had pretty solid brakes.
