I'm nearing completion on the reconstruction of my 79 and hope to have it ready for the local Toyota FJ unveiling. Since I completely disassembled the rig I'm going to need some help getting everything adjusted (timing, carb settings, etc.) after I get it all back together. Any volunteers? Here's the latest pic taken last Friday while everyone else was on their way to Katemcy.

Wrong picture

Used the wrong motor picture. Here's the Friday picture which includes the cleaned up carb.

I tell you what, give us directions to your house and I will bring my 60 over. We will buy a ton of beer and food and see if we can shake a few gearheads loose for tune-up instruction! I need it, too! ;)

DANG, that looks nice.

Holy Crap! Thats BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

We could eat off that thing, but Mickey won't let us 'cause we'd get it dirty.

Great work Mickey!

When can we pull the GunRunner in for the same service? How much do you charge??

I'll do the Gunrunner for free.....you just have to build me a shop first. Having 2 40's in pieces in a 2-car garage is no fun. I can't find the grill for the 79 anywhere and I'm starting to get worried. I think I lost one of my grandkids in there somewhere too.

The paint is Dupont Nason Urethane. Original Toyota Olive color.

Got the top on it last night. Should get the ambulance doors on tonight. Maybe the front doors too if the weatherstrip installation doesn't take too long.

Spring break is next week. What about a tune-up party sometime the following weekend Saturday March 18?

No, the engine was cleaned and painted with rattlecan high-temp engine enamel (semigloss black) and all the aluminum peripherals (valve cover, intake manifold, distributor, water pump, t'stat housing) were painted with aluminum engine paint and finished off with a spray of clear gloss engine paint. In real life it looks a lot better than the pictures so I guess it was worth it.

So, are any tuners available Saturday? If anyone is coming to my house I need to warn my wife and dog. Call me on my cell at 506-4000 if you'd like to come by. I may need to knock off at about 1:00 depending on the plans my wife has. I'm at 530 Windy Ridge Ln in Madison. Take the Madison exit, turn West (away from Madison) to the first light which is the entrance to Sumertree Subdivision. Take the second right (just past the clubhouse) and then the third right (Windy Ridge). My house is the last house on the left.

I followed the manual for the carb adjustments, timing and valve adjustment. It's running just fine now. I drove it 6 hours to Arkansas and back with no problems related to the tune up though I keep blowing the ancient heater hoses on the road. Ask Greg about how I get when coolant is spilling everywhere.......

"My truck is spewing copious amounts of antifreeze."

Next week I'm going to take my 8 month old on a 15 hour flight... does that count?
