I need to bend some 1.75" and 1.5" .120 wall DOM, and I'm having no luck finding someone local. It seems there are
commercial benders in the Tulsa area, but none here.

Found someone to bend DOM

Thanks for all the responses. j/k
I realize most GCC members aren't in the OKC area.
Sniper Fabworks in Yukon treated me real well.
Even went so far as checking tube angles on my unfinished bumper in a 105 degree parking lot. Twice.
It's kind of a Mecca for Jeeps.

unfortunately not all (or even many) members check this section often. If you need a quick reply, and I hate suggesting it, cause I wish we used the forum more, try the mailing list

oh, and photos are not only requested, but required! Let's see what they did!

Well, the tubing isn't on the bumper yet.
I'm building a Slee Short Bus knock-off.
All the flat metal is done, and I cut the
center bent section to fit, but my local
welder decided to knock off early today.
I have to have it at least tacked in place
in order to cut the side bends and cope ends.

The clamp and stick are there to keep the center tube
in place.

That is a great looking bumper.

What will the final savings be vs. buying from Slee?

Looks really good! I'd leave the stick, call it a trowell bumper...

Yes, you are correct, which is how I knew there was a new thread here, but was away from the computer all weekend. I've tried to encourage more use of this forum by making sure meeting info is up here (though I do think I missed putting up the last informal - other things do pull one away some times) - and by putting an Area Wheeling Calender up here so there is at least some usefull info. here. I've also placed threads here on my truck, and sent out the link to the mailing list, to try to improve traffic.

The other thing that I've requested to help improve traffic here is club member intros. I started that sticky after you started the thread "Why don't we use this forum". I don't see your intro in that section, hint hint, nudge nudge....

I've probably got 250.00 in materials and 150.00 in welding, and,
of course, I work for free, so about a 600.00 savings.
I used the HF "Universal" winch mount to leave my options open
for whatever winch I can find. If I need to, I can build a little higher platforn on it to accomodate a larger winch.
Where the mounting holes are now, the tranny cooler is my limiting factor for winch height.

it's definately going to be nice. I always like a combo of tube and plate. Mine's all tube right now except the winch plate, but it's going to gain some platting...

Center tube tacked on...

Jack stands come in pretty handy getting this thing on and off.
I gotta say, I SUCK at tube notching. But I made a jig that keeps
the outer tubes at the proper level, so everything is going to
even out. Decided 45 degrees looks pretty good for the center tube
leaning out, and 38 degrees for the side tubes.

Getting everything welded together after work today. Shouldn't be
much grinding involved before priming.

Waiting for the primer to dry...

Can hardly wait to get it on the truck.

And the money shots...

I'm pretty happy with the finished product. If I had to do it over,
I'd make the side tubes straight horizontally for about 4-5 more
inches to make the "parking lamps a little more visible. I switched
the sockets around a long time ago, so my side markers are my
turn signals.

looks good - I even like the color!

It'll look even better when you fill that big blank space.... my space has been blank for years

After a couple of coats of Rustoleum rattle can truck bed liner...

Yeah, I kinda liked the color of the primer, too. Had just a touch of green to it.
I think the black makes the "blank spot" less
noticeable. I stripped two of the bottom mounting bolts over the
course of mounting/remounting 7 or 8 times.
