I dont have an opinion on which system is best, however I think heavy duty quality canvas is the best material.
Those thin man-made type materials allow the sun's heat to come through
Thick canvas can actually provide you with cool shade and keep you warm at night, and quality canvas does not shrink as one of the ads claim.
I guess it depends on the climate and which time of year you are out camping.

Before I decided I liked bear territory allot and wanted hard sides, something similar to this was on my drawing board for my mini truck. I was going to have it hang out over the tailgate so I could have enough length for a 7' bunk on each side. The other difference is my top was going to be hard and lift vertically. Parts scavenged from a pop up trailer would allow that.

I think you will find more at Expedition Portal and other sites.
Any experience with Quicksilver slide-in truck camper? The guy put one on a trailer. A few pics missing, but writeup on utility. Small storage capacity when down was an issue.

C'mon Rusty, just go used FWC shell. All the cool kids are doing it.

I think you'd be surprised of the FWC shells if you shop around. Redline found a fully loaded model in Reno, for 4k. I'm pretty certain that's cheaper than an A/T Flipac.

Wanderthewest has a thread of used campers for sale. Check it out.

Wildernest is a good option too.

I want a Flippac type trailer...set up time is everything

It's not the FWC cost that has me worried, it's the truck.

Also I'll probably have to sell at least one of the Cruisers and the Merc just to make room for a truck.

If business picks up it will probably happen, just depends on the economy.

I just purchased a flippac, but I have not picked it up as of yet. I should have it on my truck the first week of December.
Previously, I bought a used Wildernest for a Toyota long bed trailer. I abandoned that idea because it seemed like overkill for just me and my fiance. However, as it sits, it makes for a great offroad pop up camper.

I'm selling the Wildernest that is on the trailer, but I have not posted it up here yet. Here's my craigslist post:

Here's my post with the photos:
Wildernest Camper for Toyota long bed

edit: Sold the Wildernest. That was fast! I am keeping the trailer for yard work .
