Mike,

Glad to see you will be doing this yourself. I did my first birf job last weekend in a little under 6 hours with the help of a long time mechanic buddy of mine. He had never done a LC birf job before and there were a few instances where I had to humbly correct some work he had done. My only expertise came from watching Jim Reiss's birf teardown video, the FSM and the ample information on this site and others.

To add on to Darwood's tool list, you will certainly want a torque wrench and a parts washer. I had a lift and all necessary hand tools, but no parts washer. However, if I had the choice between a lift and parts washer, a parts washer would win hands down... In other words, a parts washer is key to making this job go a little quicker...

Thanks for all the information, DL'd the FSM for the 97. Took a while, but got it all. a week ago during SOR's sale I called them, the guy I talked to was pretty rude... and was rushing to get off the phone with me. Thats cool... I decided to give Dan a call today, wow Dan... you know you Shiat. I really enjoyed talking with him... to the point that I almost forgot to order crap. When all was said and done, ordered the knuckle kit and some wheel bearings... should be here in a week or so. I will be documenting what I do and Posting it on my site.
