ok so I have a 2000 tacoma and is not a TRD edition I'm starting to wheel alot more with it and have been looking around for a TRD locker for the back. I just found one in a junkyard but the tacoma there is a 2003, is the 3rd the same size or will it not fit???
NO!! The 3rds are not the same size. You have an open 8.4" diff and the TRD is the 8". It would be much easier to get the whole axle from the '03, and put it under your '00. But then you'd have to make sure your front diff is geared to 4.10s.
As for the wiring, there's a few places that make the wiring kit, and some have just done a cable pull. You could just get a lunch box locker and throw it in your diff, would probably be the easiest. Search around on ttora, here for example... TTORA - Differential & Locker - Faq
