Transmission fluid pan drain plug (3 Viewers)

Hi Guys,
I started backing out the plug to do a quick drain and fill. First time since I've had this 2000 LC. It's the original plug with DII on it. It broke loose and I loosened it a couple turns , but then felt resistance so I tightened it back up. Is it normal to feel that resistance as the threads back out after the initial " break loose" . - Thanks!

I just did this a week ago on my 2002 and the plug broke free easy and came out even easier. Also the original DII plug. Mine is new to me but has zero rust and had no washer. I did a drain and fill and plan to do another soon and will replace the plug and washer for peace of mind. Part numbers that I bought this week are below.

Be sure to only torque this one gently to 15. Apparently the pan is pretty soft metal

Transmission Drain Plug Gasket Part Number: 35178-30010

I think my threads a messed up. Since it’s my only vehicle, I’m going to wait until I have a helicoil ready before I back it out. Or worst case get a new pan.

I would not panic. The threads may be stretched on the original plug.
