Transfer Question

My 88 Truck is getting a rear main put in tonight, but while I was taking the transfer cooler lines off I kinda destoyed the cooler. My question is, do I even need it? I don't tow anything other then my four wheeler in the bed of it and that hardly ever happens. So can I just take it out of the loop or is it there because Toyota had a problem with these transfers? It has the 3.slow in it. And the only place that has the part is Toyota and they want $400 for it. Any info will help.

Yes there coming off the transfer case. They way that the cooler is mounted, it looks like it is factory. It don't recall full size chevys having a transfer cooler, so that lead me to believe that maybe Toyota had a problem with the transfer. I also called a few places and made sure that they knew I was talking about a transfer case cooler and and two of them had one. I'm just looking for the cheaper way out I guess, but if the girl needs it then I'll spend the money.

I used to have an 88 and don't remember running. I may have taken it off at some point in time.

For about $25.00 you can run 100% synthetic in the tcase and that should be fine.
