I bought a tent trailer, it weighs about 800 lbs. empty, and is currently riding on 165 x 70 x 13" Michelins. My last tent trailer had 12" wheels and they were a disaster on anything but paved roads. Lots of punctures through the tread, blown out sidewalls, you name it. These 12" tires were new and properly inflated and still any sustained dirt road travel would be the death of them. I have been looking at the Goodyear Marathon trailer tires and I'm wondering if they may hold up better. They have 2 steel belts which the 12" tires that I was using did not. Any testimonials or considered opinions appreciated. Thanks, Greg.

Hey Greg,

What kind of trailer do you have?

I have always had better luck with Michelin than Goodyear. I am pretty sure that Michelin makes the current BFGoodrich tires, which are excellent. The Goodyears I had on my old J**ps lasted 40,000 miles, and Michelins (BFG ATs) typically last 60-80,000 miles.

Post some pics of what you have and let's see what we're working with. There are some excellent resources on this forum.
