Anyone have a good source (meaning well priced and reliable) for shipping a trailer from NY to AZ?

I live in central CA. I bought a FJ40.5 in Long island a month ago. I cannot find a reliable trucking company. I'm using a Auto Shipping Broker now. The price ranges from $1,245 to $1,396. I'm taking vacation time form Dec 15th to Jan2nd.
I had this time set aside for wrenching on the rig. I'm now thinking about using this time to driving cross country to get it. I just hate pulling an empty trailer from CA to Long Island, NY. If I do decide to drive it I will let you know. If it's a little 1/4 ton military type trailer I can probably fit it on my trailer with my FJ.

Great Idea

DAnimal,
It is a 3/4 ton pioneer tool trailer which is south of Rochester. Maybe a little out of the way but I have received some high quotes and would be happy to work out a deal that makes sense for you. I think it is similar in size to the jeep style trailers but don't know for sure as I have never seen either in person. The dimensions are 149" long including pintle, by 74" wide, and 69" tall. It seems like it would fit in a long truck bed but don't know for sure.

That's kind of ironic you are making the trip as I drove my FJ40 out to NYC from Tucson. Not a fun drive if you are on a schedule and something I probably don't want to repeat. Is the cruiser driveable? There are people always looking for a mode of transportation across the country but I guess it would be hard to trust someone.
Well let me know as soon as you can as I have to organize the shipping fairly quickly.

Chris
