Whats your opinion on bolt on Diamond tread flat top aluminum fenders vs steel bolt on or weld on for a 416 style steel trailer.
I notice manly used bot on?

I've been happy with aluminum bolt on. Not really heavy enough for a step.

Off road trailer fenders should, at a minimum, be able to be used as a step, IMHO. Choose steel or aluminum of sufficient gauge to support this and you should be ok. If your existing trailer body is steel, going with aluminum fenders to save weight would be pointless. Aluminum gauge compared to an equal steel strength fender would cost more, if that is a consideration.
