Come on out you out-of-staters and run your Cruiser alongside the Hummer Club. The Gap is one of AZ's funnest trails. Here's the details:
"ShottsCruisers" and I have been making plans on a run before it gets too hot, here are the details.
Come on out and join us for one of Arizona's best 4WD trails...The Gap (near
Tucson). Bring your Hummer and run with the Toyota Land Cruiser folks. See
how different rigs perform on various obstacles. The Gap has it all!
Grades, off-camber, twisties, shelf roads, ledges, and.....The Step, one of
Arizona's harder obstacles. We'll run the Gap from Oracle to Catalina so
those who are interested can go "up" the Step. Check out the trip details:
When: Saturday, May 5th (Cinco De Mayo and my Birthday!)
Meeting place: Circle K in the Town of Oracle. Directions: From Oracle Jct
(southeast of Florence)....head north up AZ77. Turn right at the Business
District sign in Oracle and go about 1/2 mile to the Circle K (north side of
the road). John Shotts can be reached on his cell phone at 520-975-1723 in
case you need assistance.
Meeting Time: 9:00 AM (giving Phoenix folks time to travel)
Pull-out Time: 9:15 AM
Trip Leaders: Jose (Hummer) and John Shotts (Land Cruisers)
Trail Difficulty: Mostly a 3.0 with some 3.5 sections and one 4.0 obstacle
(optional).
Brush Report: Some, in a few places. If needed we can take a few minutes
and clip.
Trip Duration: 5-6 hours (average)
If you intend to come please post up so we can keep a head count for the
trip. If the group gets too large we'll have to limit the size. Speaking
of Cinco De Mayo, Catalina has a favorite Mexican food restaurant for those
who want some grub before heading home to Phoenix. Jose
