I just received the following e-mail blast from the TLCA, is it possible that all the tech questions that are submitted and answered could be "archived" and made "searchable" in some sort of online database for all of us members to go back and refer to later on? What about what's already been printed? From a technical perspective (IT wise), it's a pretty simple database.

I believe we are going to make that happen, once Matt gets past this busy time. Hopefully he will chime in to let us know. It's a great resource that is currently not being utilized, and should be, for sure!!

I guess if someone was interested in helping with an initiative like this, that person(s) could work with Matt to prep things for him and ease his load. I would have to assume that Todd has everything digitally already from the time he started as TT editor until present, so at least that would be easier to bring online than having to go back through the non-digital past issues that we don't have.

Maybe. That, I don't know. What I do know is, Todd isn't on here, so you'll need to email him for that answer, or I can check, and get back to you. As for somebody helping Matt, Have them contact Matt directly, and see what he thinks of the idea....

That is pretty much what it is - I really don't see Matt having the spare time to do that, but it would certainly add value for members. I think this would be an ideal project for a volunteer to do and then hand it over ready to post, like Nick did with the directory of articles in Trails and I did when I scanned the covers of all the issues we didn't already have in electronic form. I would guess this would probably take someone several hours to skim and tag everything with keywords. I think I spent about 6 hours scanning the covers of all those back issues for the web store.

Or if a chapter were to step up and tackle a couple of years of the articles...build some camaraderie around it...

I think what might be ideal is to create a list of projects/initiatives that the TLCA would LIKE to see accomplished and then post that list publicly. Put together a "job description" for the projects and then ask for a volunteer to chair the project (read coordinate) and volunteers to step up and do the work...just my .04

That's a fine idea and I fully support it. I won't cost any $$ from the budget, and if presented well, won't take much of Matt's time (I think). I am going to bring this before the exec board right now, get some feedback and then if the feedback is mostly positive and there aren't too many unanticipated gotchas, bring it before the full board asking for volunteers.

Great idea Art!
