Of course it can be done - we've talked about it a little from time to time. One consideration is that we do not want to compete with ourselves for back issue sales. We could maybe start out by only doing back issues that we are out of. Having archives for members would be a great benefit!

That would be a good start...except if my memory serves, we still have back issues going back 10 years, sitting on a shelf somewhere, collecting dust. So why not start in 2008 and work back?

Because they are not collecting dust, they represent our #1 merchandise seller. ;)

*Jeff, has anyone proposed making back issues available in digital format to download and be competitively priced in comparison to an actual copy?

I am not privvy to meetings of the BOD and such, but IMHO that'll jump start things nicely and in my opinion, make the association a better, more marketable presence in the community today.

Heck, how about the idea of if you buy a new 4wd Toyota vehicle, through X-dealership, you can get a subscription and membership for X-discount or a special deal of some sort?

There was advertising in the FJ-C catalogs, and with Toyota pulling the plug lately on the print catalogs, there is a loss of advertising and exposure. Now, with my background I see the possibility of people in positions at a dealership, club, etc having the opportunity to share our common link here. All it takes is either some sort of small business card, or better yet, a magazine insert to hand off to someone. Worst case they don't take the idea up, but in the last week at work I have had the opportunity easily 12 times to refer to TLCA, heck, I have even sold someone on the idea of getting a Prius to replace her Tercel, and I'm not even in sales!!

Let's see, a back issue in print format's $5-$7 ea or $30 set, make the digital one's $3-ea or $18-set and you're set to make money in a more currently demanded (*Go Green!?) style that many younger users will appreciate.

Heck FTM, make a general amount or quote for all the print issues available I don't already have (*Currently only have 2009-2010) and I'll pull out my check card right now! Seriously!

In closing, me, I'm more of a digital guy, but nothing can replace having an actual issue with us when visiting with family and sitting around a campfire..How else do you all think I stoked my little brother to start some preventative maintenance and a possible build on Ole' Blue? :D

OK, that's enough from me right now, now you know why someone should call me, I've a ton of ideas, and all I need is the opportunity to take action on them with proper support.

These ideas can't be that new, or are they? :steer:
