1985 BJ70 hardtop. Factory radio pulled and wiring hacked. In my FJ62 I replaced the stereo head unit with the Scion and it was a plug and play. I mean the FJ62 factory connectors literaly plugged into the Scion head unit. They are pretty basic and normally between 20 and 30 bucks in my area.
I have access to a 2013 - 2018 Toyota Rav4 with a Touch Screen, AM/FM, CD player, Bluetooth receiver. Im kind of torn between the two and I know this Rav4 stereo isnt going to last long but it is also going to cost me more.

I am in the process of reduceing road noise and the transfer of external heat in my 70. Anyone who has own a factory FJ55 knows that at highway speeds youy might as well get over the shouting match let along hear the stereo. After I lifted her and put Yokohama A/T's it wasnt any more civil but got rid of the humming. After I did basic sound and heat transfer to my 55 you could hear the radio and carry on a decent conversation. I only deadened the fire wall inside and some of the engine bay and part of the front doors with Dynomat. I really dont see how the 70 would be any different.

It would be nice to have a touch screen and nav. but its going to cost a lot more than the 30 bucks fot the Scion unit and I own a garmin nav. unit i can put into the truck.
