Today, Toyota Motor Sales (Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicles) reported July sales. A total of 197,424 vehicles were sold in July, down 18.7 percent on a daily-selling-rate basis and 11.9 percent on a volume basis from last July. The breakdown for July: 175,242 for the Toyota Division (Toyota and Scion), a decrease of 17.9 percent from last July, and 22,182 for the Lexus Division—a decline of 24.6 percent from the year-ago month.
Following the announcement, I spoke with Toyota Division Group Vice President Bob Carter and Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Mark Templin.
