i am thinking of buying 4 wheel drive for driving on dirt roads, hunting land, go fishing and such. i think am going to buy toyota because they last longer. my question is do i get highlander or fj cruiser? my dealer says will have new cruisers this wweek. i can get higlander now. i google landcruiser forum and come hear. i see this forum for landcruiser but i would like opinnon of highlander to.

thanks

The highlander is car based and does not have a low range. It is built for folks who want 4wd but don't plan on actually going off road - more for snow, family safety, etc. It favors road manners over off-road capability and has lower ground clearance. Think of it as tall 4wd station wagon similar to a Subaru Forester.

The FJ is built to be very capable off road and has a low range. It would be perfectly fine on road but not as comfortable or as agile as a Highlander in daily driving situations.

A 4-Runner may be a nice happy medium for you. Have you considered it? You might also consider a Tacoma.

I would wait and drive all of them.

By the way - Welcome to MUD!!!

FJC all the way, in terms of 4x4 FJC is WAYYY better.
