OK I have been talking back and forth to Brendan at Marlin about getting a toybox for the the fj80 with a fj60 tranny and transfer case thrown under it. I have also been searching high and low for a used set up but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth. I have pricing on the build it yourself kit and the total toybox from marlin.

Complete Toybox 4.7=$1849

Complete ToyBox 2.8=$1499

Building it myself=$1722+my time

This entails: Used Xfer case $75
Toybox to H42 Adapter $649
Toybox to Splitcase $599
4.7 gearset $299 (that’s a guess)
Machine Shop time $100
My Time $$$$

The only machine work that has to be done is getting the reduction housing bored as the input bearing for the ToyBox is slightly larger than the standard case input bearing. The h42 to ToyBox adapter is the MC24 and the ToyBox to splitcase adapter is the MC23 if anyone is interested. They are making a limited run of the 2 adapters soon(no estimate on how long soon is) so if you ever wanted a toybox for your 60 or if you want to adapt a 3FE to one nows the time.

OK now for my question: Every ToyBox that has been sold on Mud has the price deleted or was sold as a unit (ToyBox+Tranny+Splitcase) I was wondering what a good used one should run for on the high and low side? Are they so rare that they get full price for them? or are they a half price item? Any experience would be helpful and I hope this helps someone else.

this is good info, I have not seen prices posted for the toybox before. They seem to go for close to that used. I thought, based on Bamableach's build thread, that Marlin would send you a machined housing for a 100 core charge that would be refunded once you sent your case back to them. Also, don't forget to add the cost of a split case rebuilt kit and possibly a transmission kit to that. I can't remember but I think you have to replace the rear output shaft on the transmission - included with the h42 adapter?
