i sent out an email on the list, but i thought i would post a pic or two of my truck that i just bought back from a friend. its a 94 with 35s, locked f&r, with 529s. hoping to make a bunch of the club runs next year and a few trips down to rausch creek. trying to get an in cab cage, dual cases, and new q78s for it before may.

ifs truck would look silly with an exo. i would like one, but i don't have a bender. i can buy an in-cab cage and just weld it up for 350. how much you charge for an exo?

well< i thought i would post a bit of an update. finally got the garage cleaned out enough so that the truck would fit in there. many things are wrong with the truck and i just started tearing it apart. power steering pump was shot, so that came off and i got a new one from autozone. the front pipe, where it attaches to the manifold was broken and the po tried to weld it....didn't work. so i ordered a new front pipe. took out the 2" body lift that the po had put in, and i am waiting for new body mounts. depending on tire size, i will run no lift, or at most, the 1" that i had in there originally. i spent about 5 hours fixing the hood latch, and pass side hood hinge mounts, so now it closes and latches the way it is supposed to.

still needs:
timing belt idler pulley (or tension pulley, not sure which yet)
valve cover gasket
fix oil leak (rear main seal, and other...)
shocks
tires

thats just so that it will run and drive ok...i have a list as long as my arm of things i would like to do...dual t-cases, cage, lt front end, alcan rear springs...etc

i pulled the upper timing belt pulley out and couldn't turn it by hand!! so...ordered that....also pulled my codes and have a 21 and 27, both dealing with the oxygen sensor. i just tried to fix mine, as the PO had yanked all of the wires out of the plug! my plan is to clear all of the codes and then run the truck for a while, after i put in the new timing belt pulley and see if my fix on the O2 sensor worked. if not, i guess i have to pony up for a new O2 sensor. i also ordered a new valve cover gasket to help with the oil leaks. anyone know if toyota is the only place to get the seals for the oil cooler? i know that is leaking too.
i fixed up an exhaust for it the other day. it exits under the cab, though, and i don't think i am going to like that in the long run...but it will work for now.

looking for a set of 15" rims......willing to trade a set of alum 16" x8 4" bs.....lemme know

so i had the day off, on account of the rain this am. good day to work on the yota. i got the idler pulley for the timing belt on, timing belt back on, alternator etc... all put together except for the powersteering pump (i need a bolt). runs really good (for having 230,xxx miles!!). i adjusted the idle, once its warm it will stay right at 750. i had 2 ck engine codes 21, and 27...now i just have 27. so i gotta do some looking and see if i can fix that. since this was a pic thread, i took some pics

garage space is a bit tight, but its workable

exhaust all tucked up
29062_1360998436497_1577646616_30890042_2396912_n.jpg

new front pipe. cut and bent and rewelded to tuck it up closer to the body

so thats where we are at. i also put a new valve cover gasket on the driver side. still have to fix some other oil leaks (oil cooler, and rear main seal). need new cv shafts (at least one), carrier bearing, shocks, tires, shorten sliders, and a bunch of little stuff....

had a question...trying to decide between 36" bias tsl (either 36x13.5 or q78) or 35" krawlers. which work better in the northeast? i am going to be splitting my time between here and arizona and either would work well in az. are the krawlers good in the mud? this truck will not see any road time, just a trailer queen. looking for some opinions. thanks....

i thought i would post some pics from the trucks former life

Evolution!

hey lane, did you catch your 40 in the background of that one pic?

i got the bolt i needed for the power steering this weekend, and i took off the torsion bars and old shocks so i could measure travel for some new ones up front. i've got about 8" of travel at the wheel, and i need a 5" travel shock! how pathetic! 10" collapsed and 15.5" extended. OME and doestch tech are among my better options, unless i hack off my upper shock mount and put an f250 tower on there. i have been reading up on pirate about using timbren rubber springs for bumpstops and since my friend is a dealer, i think i might try it. thats all for now..............

That's a pretty old pic! We had a good run that day. I've only run that one section of trail once, never been back!

i have decided to purchase a blazeland Page 2
long travel A-arm set up for my truck. i needed to buy shocks, cv shafts, and new ball joint spacers anyway, and i intended to go long travel in the future. might as well only buy those things once. i have always wanted a LT, dual case equipped truck as sort of a do all off road vehicle. i hope to get that ordered up this week. BUT, since i am on a very slim budget, i also decided i would try to use my old yokohamas for a while, instead of buying new tires. they are pretty worn, so i hit them with the tire groover today, to see if i can get some more traction outta them.

here are the first two. these are the worst tires, the others 2 had more tread on them.

it worked pretty good. i have sipped tires with utility knife, and i have cut them before using a roto-zip with tile bit, and this was WAY easier. it took about 20 min for the groover to warm up and then it was like going through butter. very sweet. hopefully i will get to test them out in the next few months.

so, i havent ordered the lt kit yet, but i am getting all of the other things fixed that are wrong. replaced a cv on one side that was ripped, got some used stock torsion bars and got them installed to replace the stiff SAWs that i had to put on because my stockers were sagged out. scored some stock aluminum SR5 wheels for $100 and a BRAND NEW set of tires (35x12.5) for $150! sold my old 16x8 rims for $100, so that washed out nicely! bought a gear drive transfer case for $50 only to find out that it was forward shift. but he threw in the transmission for free, so if i can sell that, things will be OK.

SAS!!

yeah, there is certainly no need for that at this point in the game. i have been wheeling this truck with ifs for almost ten years, 4 in AZ and it has performed fantastically. what it needs is lower transfer case gears, a cage, hydro assist, and to get the piss wheeled out of it.

had fun at the FG, and now i have started to work on this a little bit more. traded the ATs for boggers. they rubbed on the pitman arm and the idler arm. so i got some 2" spacers. no rub on the idler/pitman lots of rub on the ends of the sliders and the body. i am in the process of tubing the firewall. i have one side all cut out and it looks like everything will clear nicely. b4 the next FG i hope to cut up the boggers a bit, interior cage, and maybe dual cases, and some upgraded steering. we'll see.....oh, yeah, i still need to put in a drivers side window.
