This is NOT your run-of-the-mill box truck, I highly recommend you read this description fully!

This is a 1983 International box truck. She’s not pretty, but she’s SOLID and reliable! She sports a 9.0L diesel motor (no turbo) and runs like she’s brand new. The motor only has about 100K miles on it. She fires right up even at –10*, no glow plugs, no ether. This truck came stock with an ether start assist system on it, but the stock bottle of ether is still there, mounted upside down (they came from the factory like that). This means it has never been hooked up. This is good, as too much ether is harmful to a diesel engine. Long story short, this engine has never tasted ether!

She is set up to burn either diesel fuel or waste vegetable oil, which you can easily get for free from restaurants. I have crossed the continent almost twice in this beast, 75% of which was done on free vegetable oil. I built an onboard filtration system so, on a warm day, you can literally pump directly from a waste vegetable oil bin, through a filter and into your tanks. Fill up 60 gallons for free in less than half an hour!

The front half of the truck is converted to a simple sleeper, with a full size bed, food shelves, and a fold down camp stove shelf. Nothing fancy, just functional and simple (like the whole truck). The back half is converted to a small workshop, complete with shelves, a workbench and a place for your tool box.

I have installed a 2.2 KW, air-cooled, diesel generator under the back of the truck. I have plumbed it into the workshop, as well as installed an external outlet. It’s really handy to run most of your power tools with. I used it to power my grinder, drills, air compressors and the like. It will not, however, power a welder. It’s extremely efficient and burns next to no diesel.

The motor has no leaks, and burns not a drop of oil. It has a brand new radiator on it, and maintains a temp of 185* regardless of how much you’re towing or how steep the hill is. While not a fast tower (she tops out at 58 mph), she will pull anything you put behind her and you can load her up to the gills. She comes complete with an electric brake controller.

It has a 5 speed manual tranny in it that pulls strong, but the clutch will need replacing in the next few thousand miles. She has disk brakes all around and all are in good shape. I replaced one of the disks and calipers not too long back.

This truck can save you a lot of money, both in fuel and hotel costs, and it’s just plain handy. I really don’t want to sell it, but I don’t really need it any more and I really need the funds that selling it will bring.

$3000 – Firm. For more details, call me at 970-264-1254, or email me at keyframer@yahoo.com. Truck is located in Pagosa Springs, CO. Thanks.
