Hey, I have a 1987 bj74 and im looking for suggestions for some decent off road tires. Im looking for some tall and narrow style tires. any one have any suggestions on some tires that are a decent price? looking at Either 31's or 33's. These will not be used to off road very often. I really never take the truck off roading. its more for "show" I guess would be the best way to describe it. Its more of a point "a" to point "b" truck. Looking for some that look good and will work ok in snow. The truck has a 2.5 inch lift on it, just a fyi. the truck is for sale but it could use some tires so im going to throw some new ones on for the winter.

Ive found 32 inch tyres to be the perfect all round tyre. Im using 16x7 inch rims with a 235x85 tyre, but you could probably find something of the same heaight in a 15 inch rim.
31s throw the speedo out too much and 33s are just a bit big for the brakes as a DD and sap a little power from the engine IMO.

What are those things on the roof?

Rosco what's the stock size for a 7x? I thought it was a 31".

Hi All:

Consider the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA tire in the 33X10.5 size.

This tire will work good in both the snow and on pavement, as well as in mild off-road environments.

Good luck!

Alan

Rouxel, where are you located? If you are in Canada, I recommend the Good Year Wrangler Territory from Canadian Tire. They go on sale for a good price and are a great tire. I bought the 235/85R16 (32"), and love them. They are 10 ply, aggressive. But do well on the highway/intown as well as decent off road. I'd take them over BFG AT KO's personally. They are special made for Canadian Tire, but are very similar to the Duratrac.

Heres one of the only tire pics I have, from the inside only though, sorry:

I think 32 inch is pretty close to stock height for all 7* series although I dont think they all are exactly the same height.
I think the middies came with a 15 inch rim in some markets, but may have had a higher profile tyre.
None of us have the original tyres anymore.

The size in inches is a nominal size and is rarely spot on.33s are really 32 1/2

I went to canadian tire today and looked at the Wrangler Territory. I really like them. how much did you pay? they were 184 per tire. I dont think they were on sale. maybe i will keep an eye out for a bit to see if they go on sale. I dont need tires yet but but will in the next few months.

I have the 15" wheels. the Wrangler Territory i seen at 184 were 235/75/15. i am hoping they make them a little taller in the 15 but im not to sure

I bought five of the 235/85R16 and it was $1100 with all taxes, fees, mounted, balanced. I think the sale is buy three get one free. Just keep an eye out for them in the Canadian Tire flier. They go on sale every couple months.

seen these at walmart for 98 bucks a piece. kinda tempting but also dont really want to skimp if they are not nearly as good. gonna do some research and see how the reviews are. I dont drive my truck daily so i dont need anything to crazy. its more of a toy for me. I put maybe 3-4000 km a season tops.

DONT DO IT. Get the Canadian Tire ones. The Walmart ones are not near as good.

I did the same for my 77s winter tires. I just got those studded in the exact size. I love em.
Just know you can get duratraks for the same cost. An they are winter rated just like these.
Get the same size you will love em.
