I missed the resurrection of this thread since I was out west, but this summer we added two more substantial road trips (Tennessee to Colorado and Tennessee to Maine) with a whole lot of highway mileage and some varied off-roading including aired down rock crawling and deep sand. I’m still impressed, and the initial noise and flat spotting seems to have improved to almost unnoticeable. They are wearing well, even with my lazy substandard tire rotation practice. I’d expect 50k miles, which I’d consider OK, but not outstanding. Every tire I have had on this truck has worn harder on the outside lugs, I chalk this up to a heavy full time 4wd vehicle and lots of aggressive mountain driving.

Average MPGs are up about .5mpg from the prior Load Range E Ridge Grapplers.

Overall, I’d consider buying them again. The biggest thing that will keep me from buying them again would be the desire to try something new. These will last me a few more years at this rate, and I’m sure something shiny will come out by then and catch my eye.

Yeah I tried the slightly higher pressures and it's not worth it to me. Don't like the ride. I'll just accept that I might have a little premature wear. A bump in the rear for towing did make a nice difference on my last trip.

Personally, treadlife is nice to have, but I have no desire to keep a tire 50-60k miles. I've never had a tire where the comfort/handling performance didn't degrade before the tread wore out. I see a lot of complaints about having to buy new tires, but I love new tire day. Fresh rubber always feels good to me.

I do still like these, but they're my first set of real AT tires. I had some K02s already on these LC wheels I bought, but I never took them offroad and they were pretty worn when I got them. The XTs recently did well on Corkscrew Pass and Lime Creek Rd(lots of rocks), but I'm still new to offroading so I don't have a ton to judge off of.

Like you I just get curious. Wondering about the MTs(which are OE tires on some Jeep trims), or who knows what else.

I will rarely wear an AT tire to the wear bars because the performance (particularly wet and dirt) degrades before I get there. And like you, I love new tire day.

I've lived the MT life, and on a vehicle that sees a lot of extended trips, I won't go back. Unless you go extreme MTs like Swampers or Trepadors and are doing hard enough off-road to need such, the mud performance isn't really worth the degraded ride and poor wet traction.

Thanks for the review! I’m starting to plan for when the Falkens on my Suburban wear out and these caught my attention. Any snow use? I think they are 3PMS rated, but I’ve have good tires for snow that aren’t and some that are 3PMS that sucked in snow. Really need that for not carrying chains to cross the Rockies even in shoulder seasons.

I had mine on quite a bit of packed ice and snow last year on a ski trip and they never skipped a beat. Always felt very confident. But that was all around town driving, no hills or anything.

Gents, Or anybody else who has these tires,
Reviving this thread a couple of years later to see if you have any updates on the Firestone Destination X/T's.

Would you still recommend them?

I will soon be due to replace my K02's and am sizing up the options.

I think I have narrowed my search down to the KO3's, the OC AT3's and the Destinations.
For my use, I probably should go to SL's, but I'm reluctant to go there since I like the peace of mind of the thicker sidewalls.

The destinations are attractive due to their lower weight, but there they don't seem to be a favorite on Ih8mud.

A few years and about 24k miles on mine. They're still well over 1/2 tread. No new issues and the percieved "flat spotting" I mentioned in my early review has subsided. Wet traction and winter traction are better than the K02s I've had before.

Watch for sales, they seem to go on sale pretty often through the bigger retailers (Firestone Stores, Discount Tire, Tire Rack, etc.)
I recently put the Pmetric version (Destination AT2) on my Tacoma, and am equally happy with them, maybe even moreso. Wet traction even with an Access Cab Tacoma (very light rear end, RWD) is great, my K02s couldn't hardly get going from a stop on wet pavement on this truck without spinning. I use the Tacoma mainly for highway driving for work and considered spending extra for the Michelin Destination MS2s but am glad I didn't. Highway ride, noise, and wet traction exceeded my expectations so much I can't imagine the Michelins to be THAT much better. I might even consider the Pmetric AT2s for the 200 next, since I don't really tow anymore.

IMO Firestone makes a good, well designed AT Tire in the Destination series, and they have to sell them at a very competitive price due to the long after affects of reputation damage from the Firestone/Ford Explorer Fiasco. I wouldn't hesitate to get them, especially at the price.
