Just got some new shoes. :) Went with Michelin LTX A/T 2 in 275 70 18. BIG improvement over stock. Would you guys mind chiming in on what pressure I should be running? I do tow a boat with a heavy tongue weight Spring-Summer. I'm most concerned about comfort and tread life. Thanks for the help!

The optimum pressure for a tire life can be accurately determined by this simple method. Pressure in a tire increses as a tire warms up from use. From cold you want your tires to increase in pressure by ~4 lbs/sq" once hot (at normal operating temp).

Start at 35 lbs cold. If after 1/2 hour of road work the tire pressure increases by more than 4 lbs then your starting pressure for that tire on your rig (i.e weight) is too low. If it increase by less than 4 lbs then your starting pressure from cold is too high. Its perhaps a bit counter intuative but this procedure will correctly calibrate any given tire to any give vehicle mass and environment). The info on the side of the tire will give you the manufactures recommended pressure band but of course this need to be fairly generic and has to take into account a whole lot of variables to arrive at a safe happy medium - that wont have there rrrrrrrrrssss sued off if it all goes pear shaped.

I am not much of a tire techy but when I bought these tires I was told that they were specced to get 80 psi because they are 10 ply tires. After reading the experts here I went to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...n&tireModel=LTX+A/T+2&partnum=77R8LTXAT2OWLV2 and found that the didn't know any more than I do because they think that these tires take 80 psi too. I hope they check this site and correct their info before they give out more mis-information.
Even with too much air these tires have been excellent for my use. Great hauling the boat and travel trailer, adequate in most off road use and good in the wet but they do ride harsher than the Latitudes that came on mine.

I'm confused. The tires you linked to are 255/70R17 P-rated tires which have a Maximum Load Limit of only 2,469 pounds at 44psi. This Load Limit falls short of the required 2,516 pounds required for use on a 200 Series LC.

The tires you linked to are NOT 10-ply tires and should never be inflated to more than the MAXIMUM 44psi on the sidewall of the tire.

HTH
Sorry. It is confusing but if you click the Specs tab it will take you to a chart.
