Hello Mudders,

Newbie and need help! I have a 96 4runner 2wd V6 3.4L with 153k miles all stock.

I cleaned the throttle body with throttle body cleaner spray and rag just like I always do every 20k to 30k miles and now the idle is very high at about 1800rpm with no check engine light.

Anybody with this experience that could help me out on what the fix is.

Appreciate the help in advance, thanks!

When you were cleaning the throttle body with the rag and spray you most probably got a lot of junk that went down the hole going into the (IAC) Idle air control valve and is now stuck.

You will need to remove the throttle body assembly then the IAC and clean the IAC thoroughly. Be very careful removing the screws on the IAC as they are very soft. Reinstall everything and your problem should go away, goodluck!

96Bruzer, you are correct. Problem solved. The IAC was stuck, clogged and very dirty. Thank you very much!

This forum is great:clap:
