Hello,

greetings from Slovenia - I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I'm considering buying a used Land Cruiser, produced from 2008-2015, my question and dilemma however is, if it's possible to get three child seats across the second row, for children aged approx. 6, 4 and newborn. I don't want to place kids on the 6th or 7th seat. I was looking for an answer overall on the 'net, but couldn't find a good enough answer anywhere.

If anyone has experience(s) with this subject or even photos for that matter, I'd be very grateful.

P.S.
I'll probably buy LC in any case, even if it's not possible to get three child seats in the back, because our second car - Ford Galaxy - can easily accommodate three child seats across the 2nd row, but it'd be perfect, if this were also possible in LC, because then we could drive anywhere with both cars.

Thanks for your answer(s).

I have not tried it but there is no reason why you can't. The 2nd seat has plenty of space.

Yes but the middle booster seat will need straps. Only 2 will clip in.

Depends on the size of the car seats. I had a child seat in the middle and 2 boosters on either side for a few years. It worked well.

What @Bawa said - it seems like over time baby seats have gotten gigantic in the US for safety reasons - but smaller seats and boosters may work fine.

Radman’s pic proves it can be done, but here’s another to back it up. I couldn’t find a good one, but this pic shows all three poking up from the back seat. Also, Fisher is incorrect about needing the strap for the middle seat. I am able to clip two seat clips to the middle points and therefore all three car seats use the dedicated clips and no seatbelts are necessary.

Particularly with a more narrow car seat (in my day the model was the ‘radian’. Amazon product ASIN B083F5P7VP
Also in UK they make a three across car seat all in one , or they did four years ago anyhow. <edit here is the link>

If you plan for a lay down infant seat as one of the three it does make it mOre difficult.

Just here to vouch Diono car seats! The most narrow on market, steel frame, highest rear facing limits. I did a lot of car seat safety training because of my previous work and these are top choice.

Unsure which of their models are available on the EU market but feel free to ask any questions

Thanks for your replies, they've been very valuable. My concern is exactly, like CharlieS pointed out, that car seats in Europe also got so gigantic.

@radman - do you maybe still remember or know exact names of outer GRACO seats? The middle one I managed to identify from the pic and found it in the online store.

Found the link to the three seats module, updated post above. It is probably very expensive

@Lopov87 - the 'Radian' model @grinchy posted in made by Diono. They will have some variation on EU Market, likely with difference to chest clip and a few other design features to meet market standards.

Also @Lopov87 if you need to edit your comments, click the 3 little ellipses / dots at bottom left of your comments. On mobile, they look like this -

I have the above mentioned diono in the middle to make more room for the other two. I think one is a graco and I don’t even remember the third. If you’re buying all new seats, I would just go with diono for all of them.

I’ve put 3 x Britax seats across the 2nd row of my GXR. I was surprised when mine didn’t come with the car seat clips, but perhaps that’s because it came from Toyota Gibraltar. Not sure what Slovenian models look like with regards to that safety feature. One thing to note is that with 3 x car seats, you should nix the ability for someone to quickly climb into the 3rd row. Even with quick removing booster seats, it’s a bit of a schlep as the 2 larger car seats prevent the 1/3 seat from flipping up easily.

Not to overwhelm you but here's a great list from trusted source on available seats in your market. The Diono Radian 5 is on the list!
