For my first actual tech-related post, I'm sharing my thoughts on Smittybilt's XRC bucket seats.
This was an upgrade from the bench seat in my T100, I wanted to go a different route than the usual junkyard options we see in Yotas: Civic buckets, pickup/4Runner. The main motivation was that my wife thought the passenger's seat was clapped out and I didn't want to risk going through all the effort just to run more clapped seats. I also didn't want to drill a bunch of holes in my floor pan: I just wanted to adapt my factory brackets to the new seats and rails and bolt them in.
Smittybilt offers the XRC seats in a few color options: black with medium-gray insert, black with red insert, and black-on-black. They're styled after similar buckets, but at a lower price-point.
I like them. They're definitely cheaper-feeling than more up-market options and you have to supply your own rails, but they suit the bill at a reasonable price. Their inserts are cloth with a fairly open texture that breathes, and they're firm without being hard. I'm happy with the upgrade.
