Somehow the lens of my third brake light cracked in half and I got a replacement off ebay. I've used the search but it hasn't been helpful besides remove the two 10mm nuts (done) and unplug the harness. I cannot figure out where to unplug the harness.. the wire runs into the the upper door. Based on the length of the wire that came on the replacement (non oem) it's in the middle of nowhere. Do I need to remove the interior trim to get to the disconnect? I'm thinking it would be easier to splice in the new light.. there's just enough wire that I think I can do it.

TIA

The inner rear door trim comes off quite easily, use a plastic trim tool or taped screw driver and start prying from the bottom of one of the side legs up. The trim anchor tabs will be evident. No need to cut and splice the harness.

remove the rear door inner trim carefully. if you use a lot of force sometimes you end up breaking the tabs. Then it becomes very difficult to refit. I experienced this.

The light itself is held by 2 nuts (8mm I think), the thread is on the light itself. if you can get hold of a long socket (about 1.5 inches) the job becomes very easy. remove the nuts and give a little push from inside.
