I was replacing the thermostat on my '94 FZJ80 and found that the housing for the thermostat has some pretty serious corrosion around the seat for the thermostat/gasket. I figured it would be simple to replace that part instead of filling the gaps with RTV, but I can't find the part number for that piece anywhere.

There's one on eBay right now:
LANDCRUISER LX450 THERMOSTAT HOUSING 1FZFE TIMING COVER FACTORY USED | eBay

But that seller doesn't know the part number either, so I have no idea what OEM pricing is.

Does anyone have this P/N?

If what you're looking for is the water inlet in the diagram above, the ebay part in your link isn't it. The Thermostat housing is 16321-66011 for the '94. I can't tell you that's what you need, but that's the part number for the part you asked for.

Unfortunately, the current parts catalogs don't use the same nomenclature as the FSM, so you really have to know which part you're talking about sometimes. A dealership would be able to show you the current parts catalog page so you know you're looking at the part you want.

Thanks. I guess I could have been a bit clearer. The part I'm after is the one the red arrow is pointing at in the image, and the one that's in the eBay ad.

I suppose it's not called the thermostat housing, but I don't know what the official name is, either.

No problem. The number I gave you is for the housing which bolts to the block. The 3F engines had upper and lower thermostat housings which made it easier to tell what you were getting. The 1FE-FZ engine parts are named inlet and thermostat housing, for reasons unknown to anyone but the guys who made the decision.

I can't tell for sure, but the ebay part looks like it. That part is listed for '94-'97, so that should cover the LX too. The retail listing is somewhere around $64.00; I would be hard pressed to give more than $10-15 for a used part. This isn't one of those golden screws everyone wants but no one has.

Exactly how much corrosion? Perhaps it is just broken down gasket crud? Certainly broken down coolant contributed. If there is corrosion there, where else?

I don't have it with me right now so I can't get a picture, but it's enough that I'm willing to pay a few bucks to replace it if it's not horribly expensive.

Well, the water passages in the cylinder head, for starters. I started on a "simple" head gasket replacement, and I'm pretty deep down the rabbit hole at this point. New-to-me cylinder head is currently at a machine shop and a new water pump should be on my doorstep when I get home today. All new hoses are ready to install when the head gets back, etc.

The No. 1 water bypass pipe (the nipple) is pretty corroded as well and I'm trying to decide whether to leave it in or take the risk of trying to get it out.

The more I look at the thermostat housing part that I'm asking about, though, the more I wonder if it's not only available as a part of the timing chain cover assembly.

I know this is an old post (2017), but the part number was never properly identified and I would like to add it. I'm looking at replacing the same part and was disappointed not finding it here.

16127-66020 Plate, Water Pump Thermostat Guide.

The part is found on the Timing Gear Cover part diagram and looks to be sold as part of the timing cover itself.

Does anyone have the part number for the gasket under this water line, or know where to find it? Seems like most people replace the T-stat housing gasket and the bypass o-rings, but mine appears to be leaking from underneath this fitting. I don't see it on any parts diagrams.

Thanks,
Mark

15785-66010, oil cooler gasket (same as the one for that). It's on the water piping for HVAC fiche.

There are a couple of things that aren't where you'd expect them to be. Some things are listed where you think they should be, and have a note to look elsewhere; this isn't one of those things.

haha thanks. I got lucky and put in an order for a gasket that looked about right before I saw your messages, and turns out it was the same part number.
