This is my dream spec 80. I'll find a 3FE 80 for my next build, and it will be like this. Basic.

I'll be in Austin for the meet on Saturday in the 3FE/H55F 62. Hope to see you there.

Thanks! I love your Cruiser! Great setup with the H55.

I probably can’t make it to the meet. I tested positive for Covid yesterday :frown:

I pre-wired my winch for my dual battery setup, installed my Yankum winch rope, and installed my front bumper. Plus, fresh inspection, title, plates, and TX registration. We’re legal now!

I still need tires and a few other odds and ends. But at least legal to putz around.

Silver !

Thanks for all the feedback on wheel color. It is interesting, all my Land Cruiser enthusiast friends insist that Silver is the better choice. And all my laymen friends insist that Black looks better. It probably doesn't matter too much, the truck will look cool no matter what. This is all to say, they will probably come back from powder-coaters finished in Black.

I have another issue. I am going to go up in tire size. The truck currently has worn out BFG 33"x10.5"R15 Mud Terrains (which actually measure out to about 31" diameter). I'm afraid I won't have enough clearance on my tire carrier latch for even a modest upgrade in tire size. Let alone 35" tires. Any ideas?

Also, for record-keeping I measured the current height specs. I measured on perfectly flat ground in my garage, but shot photos in the street. Supposedly OEM height suspension is 20" from CL hub to fender. My specs are very close, but it could be +/- 0.5" just due to operator error (the hubs don't sit flush with the fenders, so I kinda had to eyeball it).

Specs below:
IMG-9155.jpg

  • Front DS: 19.75"
  • Front PS: 19.75"
  • Rear DS: 20.25"
  • Rear PS: 20.50"

Current suspensions specs are OEM original Toyota springs and KYB shocks.

Maybe just bend the handle to the left a little? Like, disassemble the latch, put the handle in a vise and apply leverage (and maybe heat) to put an elbow in it.
That’s kinda what I was thinking. Or maybe put a 90 in it towards the rear?

I installed an OME 2.5” lift in my garage over the last couple days. Big thanks to @orangefj45 and the crew at Cruiser Brothers for the lift kit. Shipping was insanely fast!

I went with the “Medium” load with 2851/2860 springs. But it may need a 30mm spacer in the front. It has about 1.5” of stinkbug compared to the rear.

I’ve driven it around the neighborhood to articulate the suspension and settle the springs.

New tires soon.

The truck had 1.5” of rake from the front to the back. So I added 30mm front spacers yesterday. This leveled the truck perfectly.

This morning I put it on 37”x12.5”R17 Falken AT4W Wildpeaks. Wheels are 17” x7.5” 5th Gen 4Runner steel wheels with 4.84” BS (Toyota PN: 42611-35430).

Of course, as soon as I got it in the driveway, it started leaking coolant.

Luckily it was just a bad radiator cap.

Also, shameless plug - My old wheels are going up for sale soon. Local pickup. Make offer.
